August 29, 200322 yr If I get a SuperStock coil should I open up the gap a bit to .045-.050, or just leave it alone. Has anyone experimented with it?
August 29, 200322 yr I've just stuck with the stock gap on my cars when using the accel coil. You should be able to open it up a little bit more, but originally, I was just trying for a more stable spark under high-boost conditions. On a N/A car, I'd say go ahead and crack it to .050", if you want.
August 29, 200322 yr I have mine opened up to .050 and it seems to run better, the bigger the gap the more chance of a misfire, but the smaller the gap the weaker the spark, either way you go you trade one thing or another
August 31, 200322 yr Hi, I have done both. It really doesn't make a lick of difference that I can tell. The Accel makes it start in half a turn instead of a full turn and it does help when cold to open them up a little, but for the most part, you get a good spark either way, just my 2 cents worth, Bradd
