March 9, 200521 yr can anyone send some info my way on the correct/safest way to remove the needles off a guage cluster and is there a diagram in the fsm on taking it apart? and when i mean apart i mean really getting into it, removing the overlays, etc
March 9, 200521 yr Author nah...got something else in mind..it envolves blue,ultra violet, and day-glo needles:brow:
March 9, 200521 yr I was messin with one the other day at work trying to the the oil pressure needle to sit and zero, and the needle pulled straight off.. I didnt look to see if I broke it though. I just went and pulled another cluster
March 9, 200521 yr I'm not sure with the Soobies.. but I'm with torxxx. In my Z car (and in my Ford Bronco), the needles pull straight off the shaft. The shaft is keyed so the needle can be put back on the right direction, by pushing gently back onto the shaft. I can only assume it would be similar. hth
March 9, 200521 yr I was recently at the junkyard and took apart a dash to try and figure out why the temp gauge on my loyale doesn't work. Anyways, I pulled on the needle, and the shaft was wanting to come out with it. you might have more luck taking the backing off, then holding the shaft from behind with something. To get the back off, there are 8 (?) screws you have to remove, then the PCB comes off, and the front is loose.
March 9, 200521 yr I'm pretty sure when I had my entire cluster apart in piece, the needles were just pulling straight off.
March 9, 200521 yr I am trying to do white face guages for my loyale and broke the oil pressure needle trying to get it off. So I have not seen an easy way to do it yet.
