March 15, 200521 yr I recently changed both my front CV's and now they clonk worse than before, even when going straight. Its most noticable when its cold,..? WHY???? Its noticable when I am driving straight if i put her under load (like WOT in second gear) They are only 3 weeks old ... WHY WHY WHY
March 15, 200521 yr In a straight line? Sounds like the inner DOJs. Do you have your Fuji stock lift cranked in? Were they brand new? Cheap remanufactured? Swaped from a parts car? Are your motor and tranny mounts shot? Some things to consider.
March 15, 200521 yr I had some straight-line noise coming from a couple of new axles last year. It didn't get any better or worse over 6 months of driving, and it went away when I eventually replaced the front struts. I don't know what replacing the front struts has to do with axle noise, but that's what made it finally stop for me.
March 15, 200521 yr Where did you get the axles from? I had a rebuilt one last about 50 feet before it was worse than the old one. With rebuilt axles, it really is kind of a dice throw whether they're good or not.
March 18, 200521 yr Author Brand new complete shafts MorganM,. what is meant by Fuji stock lift cranked in???? Its not when im going dead straight, but if i turn slightly left or right it clonks (only sometimes) On any steep corner or intersection The speed of the noise varies with my speed It only realy happens when I am accelerating (I even noticed it the other day when i decelerated to an intersection in 2nd gear, using the engine as the brakes) Is there supposed to be any free-play between the DOJ and the splined shaft that comes from the tranny? Could it be my bearings? It sounds like both sides are doing it, but not always at the same time
March 21, 200521 yr Author any ideas of what it could be??? Im gonna ring a mechanic where i git thyem from to get his opinion
