March 18, 200521 yr It's under the passenger side of the rear bumper and I'm curious what it is. Thanks. edit: try that, i made it half the size
March 19, 200521 yr Now I see it. Lunchbox? Weapon / contraband locker? Those are my guesses unless you've owned the car since it was new or there are any electrical lines or any hoses attached to it. Take it apart, see what's inside!
March 19, 200521 yr Is'nt that part of the system that captures and then recirculate fuel tamk vapors? On the newer models?
March 19, 200521 yr i believe that is one of the impact sensors for the air bags, thats my guess. ~Josh~
March 19, 200521 yr It is without a doubt the evap canister for the evaporative emissions system, it holds fuel vapors until you are running at a pre determined rpm and load, and then it injects them into the engine and burns them. The airbag sensor is behind the bumper, it will be much smaller about the size of a clementine orange, all it is, is a gold plated steel ball held by a magnet off of two exposed terminals, when you experience an accident the G force of the ball is greater then the magnetic force, so it hits the two terminals, and your life is saved.
March 19, 200521 yr Author Thanks. I thought it was something fuel related. Airbag stuff is pretty easy, it usually has precautionary labeling and its related wiring is wrapped in yellow wire loom. Can anybody tell what it says about it in your service manual(s)?
