i just fit a legacy radiator in my ea82 wagon:banana:

its not pretty and it took some sledge hammering, but it is in and secrue, and the hood even closes. it is a tight fit. i put a fan in front of the rad, because theres no longer room for one between the rad and engine. i also put an oil cooler right in front of the radiator, next to the fan. and i got a kit to use the biggest filter made for automotive. its like an f1 or something, in motorcraft numbers. its a ford f350 filter, like a big soup can. it all holds water and oil for now. its dark so i'll post pics tomorrow, im just surprised it all fit. you can never have too many cooling options. pics when theres lite:headbang:

If that's the filter base I've seen before, that takes a std Pennzoil PZ1, Fram PH8A, Wix 41515 or NAPA 1515 filter. Yup, Ford used them for about 40 years. Popular on remote filter conversions for air-cooled VDubs, too. They hold almost a quart of oii, and you can buy them anywhere

yup, thats the one. i bought it for a toyota 4runner. and yes, thats what an engine looks like after runing around without a hood, combined with minnesota

I would recomend against the larger filter though. those filters are designed to be mounted vertically. I had problems with them on my toyota. ended up losing a bearing due to to manny "dry" starts. they let oil drain back to the pan and then have to be filled when the car starts again. try the toyota filter 1068 napa or wix. it has a drain back valve inside.

Ya good idea. A dry start isnt a big deal on a normal filter since its pretty small and wont take long to prime. That huge filter takes a while to fill up im sure!

 

Antidrainback is the way to go

ah yes, but this isnt just any filter, its a k&n and the antidrainback valve works great. i tested it with some air and oil.

i just drove through downtown traffic in minneapolis, and i didnt even turn on the fan! sat still for almost 30 minutes with small bursts of speed enery few minutes. just hope i wont run it too cool in the winter, with the oil cooler. but thats why they make thermostats for oil coolers:D

the zip ties will do for now! like i said, its not pretty, but it works great for now.

Where did you get your filter adapter from? I tried to put a remote dual filter kit on two years ago, and the part that went on in place of the filter had the threads too far back in it and not quite the right threads, so I ended up having to take it off. Also, watch out for reduced oil pressure. I was running dual PH8As on mine, and the pressure got kinda low, especially at idle, where before I had tons of oil pressure.
