New kid on the block

Featured Replies

Hello, I am now the owner of a 98 outback limited and am looking forward to getting to know it better and to join in from time to time. Right now,I am trying to decide what oil it might like. I have always liked to change at about 3000 OCI and will probably stay with that, so full synthetic probably does not make sense. Car has about 95,000 miles on it and a high millage oil might be a possibility. After 1500 miles on Castrol 5-30 oil seems a little dirty and is down about 1/3 qt. Any comments would be welcome. Oystein

Oil is oil. Just make sure it meets or exceeds the classification rating for your car and is the recommended weight.

Boy I'm gonna hear about this.

Oil is Oil you say???

You're darn right you'll rue the day you gave that opinion...

You might yet be burnt at the stake... I'll bring the fire and you bring the steak.

I only posted because I saw that SevenSisters is beating me by one post!!

SO, oystein, where in NW Montana are you. I'm in Whitefish. 'Cept for Olney, Trego and Eureka, it's about as NW as it gets up hereabouts.

Welcome to the board. Lots of info on oil here. The topic has been kicked around a lot.

Just helping the new kid out. Don't want him to get lost on his first day at school. I wanna find out where he lives.

Hi mtsmiths, A little south of Whitefish and East of Olney, like Kalispell. Have been here since traffic was a trickle. Oystein
