how big of a spare tire?

Featured Replies

ok, in case i do decide to keep these 15" pug alloys, what do i do for a spare? i would guess one wont fit underhood..am planning on running 205/60/15...

I use a same tire as the the 4 others (185/70/14 Yoko K2 F720), that way I can still run it in 4WD in an emergency situation. Nothing much bigger than stock will fit in the engine bay.

I'm a big fan of full size spare tires also; especially if you upgrade tire sizes. Get something that's the same diameter and width if possible.

You might be able to carry a full-size, same-size tire/wheel if you keep it deflated. A can of air or a portable compressor competes the setup.

Ehhh I dont know if a 185/80 will fit... remember my white 88 wagon Craig? That thing sat at least an inch higher than my 87 with 185/70's though it may have been the struts too.

Only one way to find out though... try cramming it in there. May have to be deflated though... I like that idea... keep it at like 10 PSI so you can air it up faster than just atmospheric pressure.
