Whenever we go over something "abrupt" in the brat.. the rear suspension makes a loud "thunk" noise... sometimes speed bumps will do it.. but more often out wheelin goin off a little drop or hittin a pot hole or something will do it... I'm thinking struts are shot? Just wanted some thoughts on it...

Check you're muffler is well attached. Thats the only other thing i could add.

Creep under the car and take the side of your fist and gently bang everything you can see. Try the driveshaft u joint, mine was the culprit when it did that. It also caused the steering wheel to shimmy at 57-60MPH for a long while.

I had a similar problem with my Brat for a while, found it to be a loose rear shock on the bottom mount, good luck.

Check the tightness of all nuts and bolts around the torsion bar.

I had the same problem with my 84 GL wagon. Mine would be more like a BANG when I would hit a large hole. I replaced the rear shocks and the sound went away.
