May 25, 200520 yr I test drove a 93 Legacy turbo wagon. I was quite impressed with the power. It's an auto trans. I guess it's pretty straight forward to put in a 5 speed manual trans. Does anyone own one of these rigs and have some feedback?
May 26, 200520 yr fun cars. the swap would include a pedal cluster, so you might have to take the dash apart to do so, or you could try to find a bottom hinge aftermarket clutch pedal.... either or...... definately alot more fun with a manual........
May 26, 200520 yr The manual tranny for a turbo is different then the tranny for a N/A. For one thing, it is a hydraulic clutch, and the clutch itself is a pull type, not a push type like the cable release clutches. The clutch pedals and master cyclinder will bolt right up, but you will have fun trying to find the tranny, but a tranny out of a RS or WRX will work too. You probably could get away with a N/A tranny, but if you get too agressive driving, you'll tear that tranny apart, so get use to know how to replace trannies if you go that route.
May 27, 200520 yr the n/a tranny isn't all that weak. The clutch design is the big issue in my mind that's far superior on the turbo models.
