  1. I just add a brat that I did today it still needs some work.
  2. I would be into making stickers if there is a demand for it. If someone wants to send me a suby pic maybe we could make shirts, flyers or whatever. This is done with vector graphics so you can blow the image up to almost any size with out losing image quality. The pic doesn't need to be great it just needs to be about 500 KB size and a good layout but color quality isn't important. That was my first illistration I would like to make up a couple more if some one wants to donate the pics. I would love to do an older rally subaru!!! lagwagon
  3. Yup...enjoying the slush. You still in PDX
  4. I use a program called flash. The wheels didn't look right totally flat so i tweaked them. Maybe I should put on some big mud tires.
  5. here is an illistration of my 92 loyale. I just add a brat that I did today it still needs some work.
  6. Nice looking car! I would drop the back end a little more. I think it really helps the handling. I have the same 13 inch alloys and just so you know they give you a wider wheel base by about and inch on each side. My wheels are dead even with the outside of the wheel well.
  7. I just put in a new clutch on Saturday. I noticed it said turbo clutch on the box, so I asked my mechanic if it would still work and he said yes and it would be a little stiffer. Well I know it works but I can't tell a difference.
  8. I p&p my heads when i rebuild my ea-82. I use a flexible dremmel with the metal bit. I just removed the casting marks on both intake and exhaust sides. But I only polished the exhaust side. From what I was told there is a bumpy texture to the walls of the intake side. this helps mix the air with the fuel so don't polish this side. By polishing the exhaust side it is a lot harder for carbon to stick to it. Also make sure your gaskets match up well and don't leave a little lip inside.
  9. My clutch is going so it's time for a new one. This might be a stupid question so consider yourself warned. I have a loyale and drive it kinda hard. would there be any performance gain if I used a turbo clutch kit or should I just use a normal one? I bought a high volume oil pump and I'm gonna replace the timing belt while i'm in there. Is there anything else I should replace while I'm in there? thanks!
  10. My first suby was a 2 wheel drive 1992 wagon. This car was the first reliable car I ever owned. It off roaded well for only being a 2 wheel drive. My second suby is a 4wd 92 loyale wagon which I have owned for 13 yrs now. This car is incredible. it has under gone some amazing abuse and it still running strong at 200k. I owned a turbo gl-10 sedan for a little while but I got a little too excited with it and messed it up a little ,but that is another story. My brother let me drive home his WRX when he bought it and I drooled a little bit on the way home. But last week my friend Phil bought an STI and he was foolish enough to let me take it for a spin. By myself I might ad. This car would convert anyone to a subaru lover. I have never driven a car even close to being that sporty before. The thing took off like a bat out of heck after 3000 rpm. Simply an amazing automoblie. Adjustible LSD, Intercooler sprayer, built in body reinforcements, big brakes. Wow... I think this car is pulling 7.5lbs for every pony. That's a pretty good power to weight ratio.Indy cars are like 1 to 1. My loyale is like 27 to 1 an it's a light car. Anyway I have always liked the suby's and it looks like they are only getting better.
  11. I use a Super Stock Accel 8140. I noticed a big difference. I actually think it was the single best mod I have done to my car. If you play with your timing a little you can improve your throttle response considerably. Usually when you floor it with the stock coil there is a dead spot for a second and then the can throttles up. On the down side you do lose a little top end speed for some reason. I have never had any problems with the coil either and I have been running it for over 5 years. You definately work your spark plugs harder with this coil so you may need to replace them more frequently as well as your wires.
  12. I test drove a 93 Legacy turbo wagon. I was quite impressed with the power. It's an auto trans. I guess it's pretty straight forward to put in a 5 speed manual trans. Does anyone own one of these rigs and have some feedback?
  13. The local second hand suby dealer Barrett. A super cool guy. Has been ralling for a while and has a cool wedsite if ya want to check it out http://www.allwheelsdriven.net He said he has a ej 1.8 that I could swap with my ea82. Does anyone have some input on that swap? Do you need a new ECU?
  14. My next door neighbor just gave me a full time AWD turbo GL wagon with a blown head. I'm not into automatic tranny usually but the full time AWD sound kind of nice. I always wanted a street suby and an off road suby. The turbo is the obvious street ride. Does anyone out there like the auto tranny or should I put in a 5 speed?
  15. Let me Know when you get here. I still owe you for that RX sway bar.
  16. I have done a lot of mods to my Loyale this year but I didn't test them out as much as I usually do. I had cut back on my rallying because gas was kinda spendy this summer. Well last weekend I drove China Hat road which a nice long gravel road in the middle of no where. I drove a 40 mile section of it out and back. I drove the whole thing in fifth gear even through the open corners. The suby handled so well it blew my mind. It stayed right in line even over washboards throught the corners. I have no idea how fast I was going cause my speedometer doesn't work.I wasn't going scary fast I was going fun fast. A passenger would proablly have disagreed. Well I had know idea how fast i was going until I was near the end. I had actually slowed down a little because I was getting into a more populated area when I flew by a Forest Servive Ranger who I slowed down even more for. I didn't know those guy's have radar. Well he clocked me at 75mph and I know I was going faster than that for most of the drive. Guess what, he let me off. He didn't even give me a warning or tell me to slow down. whew!
  17. I have had my suby up to 7000 rpm a few times to see what would happen after I rebuilt it and it ran fine. With my custom exhaust the car definatly runs at a higher rpm more easily. After 6000 rpm my car doesn"t have much power gain. 5200 to 5500 is the power band I would say for my car.I have my timing set for the quickest throttle response but this seems to sacrifice some top end power. Also I use 185-60-r13 tires which lowers my gear ratio. I know is is moving in the opposite direction of most people on this board who want big wheels for clearence. But this set up really helps the power spool up and I can get the car to its power band more easily. For the first time I have got my car up to 5200 rpm in fifth gear. This gives me a higher top speed because I can get into the power band in top gear.I have considered the effect of the smaller wheels on the speedometer.
  18. I will weld scrap together then cut it apart and weld it back together again. I like the tig welder the best. My favorite thing to make is customized tools with the welder.
  19. I don't think a single person checked out my car or even asked me about it and I thought I did a lot of practical mods to my car, wider wheel base, rare aftermarket alloy, custom Y pipe and exhaust, sway bars, strut tower braces, custum lowering job with adjustable strusts. ect. Oh well. Personally I wish I had stayed home and done the local auto cross. But at least the drive past Mt. Hood was senic.
  20. Thank you, Thank you , Thank you , Thank you, ect...... for that link. I knew the HV pumps exististed but I didn't know where to find them. Thanks !
  21. My mechanic told me a cheep way to fix that but you need a volt meter. If you can find out how many volts it is signaling when it works you could put in a resistor that lets the same amount of volt through and fake out the computer. I'm not so electorically inclinded to have figured it out yet. So I use the electical tape method.
  22. I bet it's that little rubber hose that feeds back into the top of the water pump. It hard to see because it's under the power steering and a/c if you got all that crap. But if it was leaking it would dump out right where your saying. Hard to get to but cheep fix. I always replace the cheepest, simplest part first. Occum's razor With the water pump. it has a little weep hole on the top. If you can see coolent through than hole your pump is done.
  23. try a couple times a day. I need two cars,or two clamps. No I need three cars the rally car, the full on stomper 4x4, and the town ride to haul around my ladies.
  24. Good observation. I thought about that believe it or not. I have spent many hours laying under my car.The old set up had one pipe that crosses over in the same spot so I knew it was designed to take some heat but , the collecter deffinatelly exposes the tranny to more heat. I was going to keep an eye on it and if it looked like it was cooking my tranny I would install a heat shield. I know to watch out for that because my old cat converter use to cook my inner cv boot after a while. I will be able to tell because it will start burning the oil on the bottom of the tranny case. See oil leaks in moderation can be useful. Oh Ya JWX, good idea the quick connect. I like to do something that had a better seal than a clamp they tend to leak.
