ea82T performence mods?

Featured Replies

Can anyone offer insights as to engine modifications or vehicle modifications that can be done to a EA82T subaru to improve performence or economy etc?

Cheers

More fuel, more boost

More air in and more air out. Achieved by modified intake and exhaust. Bigger turbo helps a bit as well.

Theres a ton and a half of EA82T performance specific info here. It can easily be had with a quick search.

well i've put carb pistons in a turbo now i gotta see how it go's

Heh.. I've done that too. I have 300 miles on it now and tonight was the first time I have had it above 4000RPMS... 8psi from a TD04.

Not bad

Off boost power is better and off boost gas mileage is better as well..

im in the middle of doin up mine. im puttin in some hot cams and new pistons harder valve springs and a bigger turbo and hotted up spark plugs ud be suprised how much better it will go wif expensive spark plugs and spark leads and a good coil. its great over here quite a few racing jetboats have hotted up ea82t in them. and im gettin mine done by this guy whos been buildin them for years, if any one in chch wants some one to talk to talk to john from canterbury engine specilast and say i sent u hes real great. another thing is air intake colder the better ive chopped up my water pump so it pumps more water round and faster ill prob run wif no thermostat so it runs cooler when im runnin high boost.

Call Techworks for performance.

Purchase their header and downpipe for your EA82T. I did both and also purchaseda GT17 turbo from them. With the boost still at stock levels, here is the before and after results. You may likey!

This is with an intercooler included.

Whatever you do, get yourself and intercooler first and foremost. The stocks air temps are HOT.

Stay away from any higher end sparkplugs, most are too hot for ea82t. Any gains you make with better spark will be lost when you have to move the timing back to stop detonation. NGK's are good.

Yeah, ditto. Never had any probs with the stock NGKs'.

I would also recomend Canty engine specialists, good guys, although there really isn't any reason why you can't do most work on these engines yourself. Very easy once you get into it.
