Scored an 85 RX Turbo yesterday!

212 kilomiles, red, checkered black interior w/ some damage to the driver's seat.

Paint is F A D E D, but I'm gonna get some rubbing compound and some wax and see what happens.

Car runs strong but has a knock at idle when cold. Previous owner thought it was a rod knock, but I don't think so. Gonna change the oil and add some MMO...see whats up then.

OH yeah...got it for $35. That's how much the last owner paid for his last registration fee. :headbang:

Pics soon

35 DOLLARS!!! Holy CRAP on a stick. score for you!!!:headbang:

Nice score! The "knock" could easily be just the HLAs. I have heard EA82s that sounded like they were going to come apart from "rod knock" that turned out to be just very noisy HLAs.

DANG!!!! Why don't I find deals like that!?!!! I want a turbo RX! Sell it to me, I'd pay double or even triple what you paid

sweet deal. i got my rx for free, granted, it didnt have an engine or wiring harness.

Sounds like a Score to me!

I'd even be happy to get one w/o an engine and a wirining harness :-\

or the timing belt, when it gets loose it makes the distributor gear clack against the gear on the camshaft, sounds like a rod knock, but a new timing belt fixes it all :D Oh, and 85 RXs, they only made 1500 :D

What's the VIN???

JF2AC56B5FE239185 So says the great great state of Washington.

OK...found a vin decoder and found that this car was production number 239,185. Doesnt tell me when it falls in the run of RX production. Or does it?

Nope, look at my database on RXs, you'll see the 85 RXs are all over the place with the production number. It wasn't until later that Subaru started giving each model it's own production range during a model year.

Here is a link to the database, if you could send me your info as shown on the database, I'll add it to the database.

Back from about '90-'95 I had an '85 turbo sedan that looked just like that only silver and didn't say RX on it (and had a black rubber wing thingy on the trunk). Are all sedan's considered RX's??? If not, what makes it an RX vs. just a sedan? Mine was a turbo 5-speed 4x4 D/R with all the extras (P/S, A/C, cruise, power doors/sunroof, air suspension that we swapped for ''normal'' suspension). Man, I miss that car - I might have old pics I could scan in.
