EGR location?

Featured Replies

Okay, this is a little embarassing, but I can't find the EGR valve on my 2.2L Legacy. I know what they look like on other cars, but not Subarus. Any tips on finding the animal? Thanks.

Depending on what year your legacy is, it may not have an EGR valve.

I was reading something like this earlier, but I seem to remember it being more along the lines of all ej22's had EGR's, and phase 1 ej25's had EGR's, but not the phase 2 ej25... I think it was in someone's post about how easy it would be to put a phase 2 ej25 in their phase 1 ej25 car to prevent possible headgasket issues.

sorry my memory is poor and this post was probably a waste of typing time

Its a 1991 Legacy. Really need to find the EGR valve if there is one...and need to find it soon!

My 1996 2.2L does'nt have one.

Plus the fact that 1stSubaru parts does'nt list one for the 1991 Legacy points in the same direction: no EGR valve on your car.

Finally bought a Chilton's repair manual. you're right! No listing for EGR on that car. Too bad, that was my first guess... have to keep going.

all the ugly details are in my post "timing belt and idle" a few lines down. No codes. Timing is okay.

Had the same issue with my ’93 L wagon until realizing there wasn’t one!
