moosens
I'm going to search real quick, but any knowledge of these please DO tell.... Looking for the heater hoses firstly for my '78 4WD wagon. But I'd also like to outfit the '73 coupe in vintage-esque hoses, etc. The particular type I'm looking for has the woven fabric on it.I'd like a good 6 feet or so of the heater hose diameter. And if I can find radiator hose in that style I'd naturally like a pre shaped upper and lower for the '73 and '78. moosens
This could be something for the vintage look. Any thoughts on this wrap crap? http://www.alcoa.com/global/en/featured_products/aflacatalog/sleeve-heater-hose-protector-flexiwrap-150-mm-quantity-5.htm
Seahag1978
I don't know how that particular wrap goes on the hoses. I do know that the braided stainless is worse than putting on panty hose in a sauna
Kostamojen
Try here: http://www.autoparts-autoparts.com/partslookup1.jsp I think Kragen or Napa has them too.

moosens
Coffee's on,wake up.... I actually need to do some hose replacement REALLY soon,if you have any knowledge of PRE BENT,PRE SHAPED,PRE FORMED,or whatever you want to call them, hoses for our 70's Subarus please let me know ASAP. All I would really need is the proper bend/shape,regardless of vintage appearance. I'm trying to avoid getting basic hose stock and having hot spots from a kink. Rattle wagon
I have spent alot of time in the auto store searching for the perfect hoses and found some near perfect matches, I will have to dig up the receipt for part numbers but the hoses I know were from goodyear! And they had the right bends I just had to trim to length. They also made two different size inlet & outlet spigots of the heater core so you may need to look into that. moosens
Thanks! From my searching Goodyear's site I couldn't find anything with the woven wrapping.I'll keep checking.
NorthWet
Thanks! From my searching Goodyear's site I couldn't find anything with the woven wrapping.I'll keep checking. I wouldn't expect Goodyear to have any of that woven stuff; really not their style. Its a British/Japanese thing (Britain had a large influence on Japanese Auto companies). I would assume that these hoses are not available through SOA?
subiemech85
don't use the braid kit "Vernon, I worked for Russell which also sells the hose covers and the other types of Race style braided hoses. Russell gave me all the hoses for my 71 Chevelle. I found that the hoses were scratching the paint. I also was more than tried of getting stuck with the braid on the cut ends as I was installing. The racer type of hoses looked better, but most cars I have seen look good when you first install, then look bad over time. Dirt gets inside the braid and is hard to clean. The braid also looses that nice shine it had when new. The hose covers are the cheeses things I have ever seen. They are made in China. All braided hose company are selling the same ones, just under different company names. This is the hose covers only. The other type of braided hoses are purchases from somewhere else. Sorry Russell but....." snagged from http://www.mail-archive.com/chevelle-list@chevelles.net/msg15515.html look for textile braided hose http://www.italiancarparts.com/parts/lanciaparts.html http://www.tomyang.org/cars/phpBB3/viewtopic.php?f=4&t=2658 http://www.pixtrans.com/products/industrial_hose/industrial_hoserange/pix_industrial_hosesrange.htm#low_pressure_textile_braided
moosens
Right after this we struck a deal on some old stock in a barn in PA. I've got a good load of those hoses upper and lower and heater hoses too - all factory -braided- and not the least bit dried out. Should they fail as I use them I'll look into the Italian made hoses.
