I need to get a nice clutch now that I'm pushin 28in tires. Anybody have any suggestions. I was thinking a dual friction clutch.

Stock one is fine with 29" tires. I've only smelled burnt clutch once. I was following some Jeeps on Skull Road and they were going too slow. Featherd the clutch and throttle too much; wasn't any smoke but I smelled it a bit. Eased up a bit and never smelled it again.

 

I don't think you need a new one untill you smoke the stock one bad.

Is that the same size as an EA81 wagon?

runing an xt6 clutch on an ea81 is alot of trouble. i would say just make sure you have the big one, 8 7/8 inch.

my 8 7/8 ea81 clutch held the power of an xt6 engine offroad.

 

the turbo kids are the ones that need super duper clutches, due to 4500 rpm clutch dumps, and full throttle boost shifting action!

 

offorad isnt that bad on them, even with 29s!

Is there anyway to tighten the clutch. Or adjust it. Because when I speed shift sometimes the clutch doesn't engage very well. It still works, but a little tighter would be nice.

Try adjusting the cable at the fork.

You really want a good clutch, check out http://www.clutchnet.com/make/subaru.html Get the 6 puck sprung hub, that will give you some real power transfer, plus they handle heat better. I do believe that it's #10701 for the EA81 w/ 4spd D/r and 10700 w/ 5spd D/r.

For about $200 a LUK clutch will get you a lot of clutch. I might also advise not speed shifting with 28's. You might as well just slip your clutch back and forth :-p . Tim

i can get second gear rubber in fwd, or rwd. just an xt6 pp. stacked ontop of the ea81 disc.

 

any clutch with a puck is very spensive.
