August 23, 200520 yr Is it possible to lean out the fuel/air mixture? Please let me know how, thanks.
August 23, 200520 yr If by 'lean' you mean change your air/fuel mixture so that there is a higher air percentage than fuel, stoich is around 14.2:1 and it involves tweaking your mixture screw and/or playing with the jets. But be warned, running too lean will make your engine run hot and you could melt a piston or two Why do you wanna lean out your carb? Do you think it is running too rich? Gannon
August 23, 200520 yr If by 'lean' you mean change your air/fuel mixture so that there is a higher air percentage than fuel, stoich is around 14.7:1 and it involves tweaking your mixture screw and/or playing with the jets. Corrected, sorry im being fussy. :-p
August 24, 200520 yr Author Well I failed emissions so I'm wondering if that had anything to do with it...
August 24, 200520 yr What colour are your plugs when you pull them out? They will be very black if its running rich.
August 26, 200520 yr Brownish is good. Did you fail HC's at idle or cruise? They were kinda brownish, nothing darkish.
August 26, 200520 yr Author At idle. High HC. I had it checked by an emissions dude yesterday and he said i am not getting enough fuel in the carb, he turned the mixture screw either way and still very high HC's. Said i have a miss too.
