September 1, 200520 yr I have installed the peanut butter jar condenser in the pcv system and have done some highway testing. On my last trip, I went 805 km on 51.5 L of good gas. That worked out to 6.4 L/100 km. in metric. Or, 15.5 km/L ish. My low gas light came on at about 760 km but I knew that there's still a hundred km in the tank at that point! I have never had milage this good in an EA-82 car and I think it may owe something to the condenser. I'm going to install a new pcv valve from subaru as my car is getting kinda stinky and we'll see if it gets any better! As you can all see my rear door ajar sensor is buggered. Any ideas? Marko
September 1, 200520 yr for us americans thats about 500 miles on 13.5 gallons of gas... Thats 37 MPG:slobber: Now I just need to eat more PB&J's
September 1, 200520 yr Author The peanut butter jar condensator is just a filter in the pcv system that goes between the ntake system and the vent for the engine. It has been discussed in depth in http://www.ultimatesubaru.org/forum/showthread.php?t=38290 I have a picture posted there from under my hood. It gets as much attention as the spare tire under there!
September 1, 200520 yr Condensator! That's why I couldn't find it when I searched! I spent about an hour searching for variants on "Condenser" and all I found was A/C stuff. I do believe I'll try to whip one of those up. 2-3mpg would be nice, though I'm not sure it affects the SPFI engines as much. -=Russ=-
September 1, 200520 yr I'm using an air compressor filter as a pcv condensor, however i have noticed no significant gains in economy. I can't really see why you would, unless there is something wrong before hand??
