September 18, 200520 yr I cant get the rockers to stay in place when putting them onto the EA82T head. any type of grease or sticky stuff besides engine assembly lube? that stuff didnt allow it to really stick. i just want them to stay put so i can rock the cam on top of them. any ideas?!?!
September 18, 200520 yr also make sure the 'key' on the cam is pointing straight up. That puts it in a position where none of the valves are pushed in, making it much easier to slip the cam tower on and not knock the rockers off. edit: also makes it easier when you go to put the timing belts back on since it will already be where it needs to be.
September 19, 200520 yr Author Thanks everyone!! IT worked! i was out of vaseline, and i couldnt find any moly grease, so i used this stuff that looked like a thicker assembly lube, and it worked great. thanks everyone!!! Luigi
September 19, 200520 yr Author hmmmmm out of vaseline, why does that make me wonder why? I KNEW SOMEONE WAS GOING TO SAY SOMETHING ABOUT THAT!!! HAHAHAHA not necessairly that i was OUT of vaseline, but i dont own any. HOW BOUT THAT! hehehehe
September 19, 200520 yr When I replace rockers I do it with the engine on a rotisserie. I turn the engine 90 degrees so that gravity holds everything in place. I use lube of some sort on the parts too so as to avoid dry startup. But when the engine is upright you need some THICK stuff to hold it on there good.

September 19, 200520 yr this might be a bit late, and maybe inaccessible BUT PJ1 Blue Label its an effervescent motorcycle chain lube. (goes on bubbly and very thin, then dries tacky. on the chain the trick is to wipe off the excess, then the dirt doesnt stick. i use it on the bicycles also, even in winter.) wipe your surfaces, spray both the parts, let em set a while or use a dryer or hot air gun, and i believe they will stick even upsidedown. wynn's viscotene is similar but i havent seen that stuff around in years.
September 19, 200520 yr Author Thanks so much for the response!!! the rockers went in PERFECTLY... but i hope this thread will help other people out in the future!! including me when i do the drivers side head!!! thanks again!!! Luigi
