White smoke after cloverleaf

Featured Replies

When I was getting on the freeway the other day (right hand cloverleaf onramp), a bunch of white smoke came dumpin out the tail right as I ended the loop and gave it some gas. Is my EGR to blame, 'cause I know my solenoid is bad, or is it the PCV? Or something else.

It's your PCV system. If you look on a Loyale SPFI you can see how there are different hoses. They did away with the smaller hose in the PCV system and used some different fittings. I grabed the whole PCV system off of a Loyale from the junkyard and havent had a problem since.

Thanks alot MorganM.:headbang:

If I can't find a suitable donor car, is there anything special about the hoses? Do I need to order them or will some cut-to-length do?

by grabbing some parts of an EA82 car, I have the hose (from throttle body to air box hose) and used all of my existing connections and rearranged them (some longer tubes needed) so now my carb has an spfi hose on it with a 4" deep dish chrome air cleaner + filter and has all of the old PCV hoses hooked up to it. nice.

Thanks for the PDF. Thats always nice to have. It says only Loyales from 1990 had this problem but my 1988 GL SPFI had the same problem. I would suspect that any SPFI with out the PCV mod will blow smoke like this.

Thanks for all the replies guys!

Well, if I can't find a good donor car around here, a new kit is only $32.

I wouldn't mind the white smoke so much if I could control it. It would be a good way to get that tailgater off my rump roast.:brow:
