I am getting no spark from my coil. I have changed the ignitor, distributor, coil, all fuses, all Ign componets are new, timing belts are good(I dont have a cover so I can see them), Everything. Still no spark. The only thing I didnt change was my ecm.

 

I am getting 12 volts to the coil, dizzy, and ignitor. Why no spark? Thanks.

Thanks, I have my FSM's here, and they are basically telling me to look for an unplugged plug (they are all plugged in) or a short in the harness.

 

It doesnt tell me what needs voltage where, and what resistance values for componets.

Is the ECU giving any codes to narrow down which part it doesn't like? Only suggestion I have is to replace new components with old ones one at a time (if it ran with the old ones). Every once in a while, you buy a new part thats DOA.

have you checked the neg side of the coil to see if you're getting pulses from the distributer? It's easiest to check this while cranking the engine over by hand, not with the starter. If it doesn't, it points to either a bad disty, bad ECU, or a open in the wiring harness somewhere.

 

page 53 of that pdf shows one pin from the coil transistor going to +12 through fuse 11, and the other pin goes to the ECU.

Yuppers. I checked everything, me and my pops ( i had to call in re-enforcements)

I am sick of messing with it. This has been an ongoing battle for a few years now....every since the new engine. I am tired of messing with it.

There is some type of transistor on the bottom of the coil bracket that gives you no spark when it goes. Also the coil bracket is a ground, so make sure it's clean.

Well the coil has voltage on each side like it should. The dizzy is getting voltage.

I replaced the amplifier, and still nothing. The bracket is tight and clean against the firewall. Maybe I should make an extra ground wire and attach it to the bracket? I dont know.

Two more things to check. Be sure fuse #5 is good. Also check the ECU for codes. Let us know what you find.

just because they have power don't mean they're working correctly. Also, just because they're new/different doesn't mean they're good. Do you have pulses at the neg side of the coil?
