impreza help please

Featured Replies

Hi all.have a 98 impreza outback sport.

Noticed a yellow tinge to the back up light on one side.

Maybe some water got in and rusted? Any way to access the inside

of the tailight cover to clean it, besides just the bulb hole?

Any comments appreciated!!

You might just want to try taking your tail light covers off of the car and clean them in some soapy water and them rinse them really well.Sometimes just needs some cleaning.Make sure you let them dry first before you put them on again.

removing the tail lights from these cars is a right PAIN

i would suggest, removing the bulbs. letting it air try

check for leaks/seal if you can

and maybe try to scrub the inside of the tail light with a baby bottle brush or some sort of very thin , very long brush.

if you remove the tail light from the housing, you break the seal

you break the seal, you run the risk of leaks when you reinstall the light.

hopefully this helps.

Any rust on the car yet? I lived there from 2002-2004, and when I left, my 95 Impreza had rust in all sorts of places! You have to love the "salt city" :). The majority of the visible rust was on the rear wheel wells...moisture and salt got stuck between the rubber strip and the bottom of the fender, so check yours out! Just a heads up, I hope you solve the problem at hand though!

couldn`t you take the whole light setup off and drill a drain hole in the bottom?

I've been told to use Subaru Brake Cleaner on the headlights to get the yellow tintage off of them... but that's for headlights... I'm sure it might work for the reverse lights.
