EA81T Project.......

Featured Replies

Ok, I have decided to slap turbo heads on my Carbbed block, MPFI turbo intake manifold, etc. For a higher compression turbo MPFI EA81. I was just wondering if I can use the EA82T uppipe (exhaust manifold) on an EA81 block. AND if the EA82T intake manifold will bolt up to the EA81T heads.

Also if anyone has or knows of any EA81 turbo parts, please let me know!

Thanks

Rick

exh works but intake manifold does not.

You will also need the complete exhaust also. Either the EA81T or EA82T, cross-over pipe (Header) and the down pipe. But if you go this route, you will need to make a piece of pipe that will replace the turbo. And the cross member from a turbo car is needed also. The whole thing might be easier if you used a EA81T and replaced the turbo pistons with FI pistons.

So wait, why do I need a crossmember? (I am assuming you meant the engine mounting crossmember) And I would most likley use the EA81T cross over pipe (header) but I was just wondering if I could use the EA82T in case I couldn't find the EA81T cross over pipe. And eahaust is no problem, I have something that will work from the DP back, just need the up pipe (cross over) and I will be fine.

It's probably just me but I didn't really get what you meant about replacing the turbo mounting flange with a pipe. I am going to put a turbo in it, if that's what you mean. And I would rather not pull the engine apart at this time to swap pistons and all, it's my daily driver so I can't have it down for too long. So that is the reason for the crazy way I am triying to it. Sorry I am kinda tired.

About the crossmember thing:

The turbo cars have a larger notch in them for the exhaust pipe to go through. You can either swap in a crossmember from a turbo car, or just cut a larger notch in your existing one.

Cutting sounds like more fun! lol
