hello.

i'm just wondering if anyone out there has any relevant information for me. i just acquired a 1988 suby wagon with the n/a ea82 carby engine. i am willing to spend around 2500-3000 grand on a conversion. i am a mechanic so labour is not an issue. i would like a turbo enigine maybe a wrx donk but i also want minimal fuss installing the (fabricating parts and such). i live in australia and have access to importer's. if anyone has any information it would be greatly appreciated.

cheers

A very popular conversion is the EJ22 engine from the 90-94 Legacy, I think they call it the Liberty where you're at. 130-140hp with tremendous reliability and longevity. They're also relatively common and cheap to come by. Do a search in the Retrofitting forum, as lots of people have done this swap recently and there is a lot of information available.

A WRX EJ20G turbo engine has a lot more power, but is also more work. Talk to Corky (Dr. RX) about this swap, as he knows a lot about it.

Listen to Snowman; he is the Wiseman of the desert (this week).

hey... im from tassie too... hobart to be more precise, where bouts are you?

im currently doing the ej22 conversion out of the liberty into an MY

also check out http://ausubaru.com/main/ for some more local advice... really good for getting parts

cheers
