November 8, 200520 yr When putting on an intake manifold and carb should i just put the gasket on dry or use some permetex sealer to make sure that i have no leaks? thanks
November 8, 200520 yr You don't have to use sealer while doing intake gaskets, but I have used it before just to make perfectly sure it would seal without trouble.I recomend the permatex high temp copper stuff.Works good.Good luck
November 8, 200520 yr Install them dry or with the spray-on copper stuff. Do not use a liquid sealer here.
November 9, 200520 yr Author lol that should def be in the "you know your a subaru owner...." thread. thats great.
November 9, 200520 yr it depends. when i do intake gaskets, sealant is never needed or used. but, it's not whether or not the sealant is needed when replacing the gaskets. the important question is "how clean are the mating surfaces". if they are clean then no sealant is needed. if you've done a terrible job cleaning or gouged the surfaces trying to clean them or someone else did then a sealant might be good insurance to thwart other issues.
November 9, 200520 yr i did clean the surface well.took out the bolting studs and used a low grit sand paper.
