November 9, 200520 yr I found a small coolent leak where the coolent is fed up into the manifold just below front of carb for the hitachi's water choke. instead of replacing this hose (a bit orcward) could i just block it where it tee's off the heater hose hard line, as i no longer need coolent there with my webber. Does anyone know if this section seperate to the main crossover channel for the coolent in the manifold?
November 9, 200520 yr That small tube that the hose connects to on the manifold, goes into a passage to the coolant jacket. If you removed the carb, you'd see a 12-13mm square hole, and the end of that tube. You would have to block both ends of where the hose attaches, so you might as well replace hose.
November 9, 200520 yr Tom's right. That hose doesn't go to the carb. If you installed a Weber, you should have blocked off the water passage to the Hitachi carb. You would know really quickly if you didn't.
November 9, 200520 yr Author yeh the adapter plate blocks off the top of the square hole. Judging by the 1st reply the sqaure hole is interconected with the main jacket in the manifold?
November 9, 200520 yr Yes it's interconnected.I know this because I had an intake off before and was cleaning it with water in one end and it came out of the water port for the carb.
November 10, 200520 yr http://www.ultimatesubaru.org/photos/showphoto.php?photo=6660&sort=1&cat=500&page=1 Link to pic of EA-81 vs EA-82 manifold. You can see what I'm talking about in the pic. Should've remembered I had that pic when I posted before...
