this is all subaru equipment, nothing aftermarket.

removed my tape player from the 97 OBS and installed the 6 disk changer/tape deck from a newish subaru. radio and tape deck work fine. when i press LOAD, eject (the arrow button the upper right) or CD - nothing happens?can't get a CD into the thing.

 

anyone that has one of these explain to me how this thing works?

 

i noticed on the back there were two plug-in connections on the new cd changer radio. but my OBS only had one plug-in to the old tape deck/stereo. what is that for, is that my problem?

I think that second plug is for the factory amp. I installed one of these radios in my XT6, didn't use the second plug, and everything works just fine. I think you may have a problem with the radio.

I did the same with my 97 OB. I have the Panasonic P123 unit. The second plug is for the under-the-seat sub I believe. Anyway, I don't have it either.

 

On my unit, you press LOAD and the unit chugs for a minute, then it says CD-IN. If you slip the CD in the slot at that point, it grabs it and takes it in.

 

Perhaps the CD player portion is defect in yours?

Related, but not helpful, question, please. I'm trying to put the 6 CD Changer in my 97 OB from another 97 OB. It comes w/a tray that the changer attaches to that's got me baffled on its install. Mines a base-model OB, and the one I bought (off ebait) could've been a LTD w/leather/better seats.

 

Any pointers on getting that tray installed?
