In the next couple weeks I will be changing the timing belt and the seals. The seals are starting to leak a little.

 

My question or questions are what bolts need locktite or anti-seize on them?

I think the ones on the oil pump backing plate need locktite, what kind should be used.

 

This weekend is axles and front brakes, I hope it goes smoothly!

( just kidding) it only happens here when the Pistons win in basketball. By the way I did not use any lock tite on mine I just torqued them to the amount in the manuel.

oil pump backing plate bolts need it if you can get them off.

The bolts on the oil pump cover as well as the water pump get tightened to inch pound specs and not ft. pound specs! Note how they just "crack" when you break them loose to get a feel for how tight they should go back together. You might even just lean on one getting it loose to see how that feels.

Both on my 92 Legacy wagon and the 97 OBW, I've removed the oil pump cover to change the front crank seal. Get the O ring for behind the cover as well. If you install the crank seal in the cover before you put it back on the engine, be real careful and pay attention to the crank seal and specifically its' spring around the inside of the seal. If that comes loose it's going to leak. If you can see a wrinkle in the seal it probably came loose. Pull the cover back and start over. Patience is a real virtue here!
