And tricks or tools needed to swap doors in an OBS?

Featured Replies

Got a 97 and 98 OBS, i'll be swapping front and rear doors.

Any special tools or tricks for this? Didn't know if there's an alignment issue here or just a basic bolt on project.

how about the rear hatch as well?

im curious, but why the door and hatch swap?

so i can have a three tone OBS. just kidding....hail damage - dimples all over it. found a wrecked OBS 8 miles from me, same color and bought it. easiest way as i know nothing about body work and don't have the time to learn.

It should be just a bolt on, then you will have to check them for alignment. Alignement can be a bear, or real easy if you never done it before.

Straight bolt on. You can pull the bolts at the frame or on the door. Last time I pulled the bolts on the door. When you install, get the bolts started and close the door, shim the bottom as necessary to line things up and then tighten the bolts. Check operation and your all set.

What are you doing with the car when you get everything swapped? I saw you post to sell it, any bites?

it will be sold at some point...preferrably as is, but if it's a big loss i'll fix it and sell it. there is some interest as it is and i hope to work something out.
