Forester gets hit!

Featured Replies

I got backed into by a newer VW Bug. The Bug was only 2ft away and then put it into reverse so he didn't get much of a run at it.

Consequently the damage is about as little as you could hope for...:banghead:

...if you could really hope for these things...

No paint broken, just a dented door and a popped of plastic panel.

Now the door doesn't close right.

The side nerf bars seem to have held up without a scratch.

Just whinning...

Thats too bad!Good thing it stayed to only 1 door hopefully.Looks like you may need a new door.

Glad the Forester is ok (well, relatively speaking). Now go wipe that bug off your windshield ;)

Sarah

Yeah, on VW's reverse and 1st are right next to each other and people occasionally interchange them  Glad he didn't get to much of a running start.

Preliminary estimate was around $1,700.

Ouch!

They should be replacing a bunch-a-stuff for that price.

Feel free to whine. I'm going to whine, too:

$1700?! You could get 90% of the way with a $100 used door, plus $200 for labor and whatnot.

Hmmm. I've never paid that much for a car period....

that's how much i paid for 94 leg

how'd the bug hold up,i'm sure it'll cost more for the bug to get fixed

Who wants to bet the bug is a total?

The Bug backed into the Forester Door. The Bug hit the Forester with one of the strongest parts--the bumper. The Forester got hit in one of the weakest places--a door. There was little to no damage on the Bug bumper. Were talking less than 5 mph.

I finally saw the actual estimate last night. The bill was actually $1,800.

A door shell was $495! Then there was paint and labor. The "Forester" words on the side were $40 or roughly $5 a letter.

Gurrr....

Can you get the $1800 from the bug's insurance and pick up the door at a yard? I realize the car's an '01, so maybe you want to go the "get it fixed right" route, but just curious. I've never owned a car worth fixing at that price.

Friend of mine got a check for $500+ when someone rubbed the paint off his old jeep Cherokee's bumper while parallel parking. Needless to say the paint is still missing and he's $500 richer.
