Emissions and AVS

Featured Replies

Has anybody been through an emissions test (tailpipe, not visual) with their AVS system blocked off? Did it pass?

What is AVS? Do you mean AIS? The Air Injection System? If you block this off, you might still pass, but your cat will not be doing it's job as well as it should. Depending on your mileage tho, your cat may not be doing anything anyway, and you might still pass. Hard to tell - try it and see. If you fail, it costs you nothing.

I think Russ means ASV which is the Air suction Valve; a part of the air injection system.

You may pass the tail pipe test but if there is a visual inspection too, an inspector may fail you because of it being blocked off.

Ooops,

:o

Craig is correct, I typed too fast. I'm rebuilding a set of EA-82 heads and the right side head I'm working on isn't tapped for the ASV port. So I can either continue with this head or pull one off of one of my other motors and rebuild it.

I think I'll go for it, I always hated fighting leaks in that system anyway. :burnout:

Russ, I'll be at Rallycross this coming Sunday. If you (or someone else for you) can be there, I have a set of lug nuts for you.
