Bypassing Overboost Controller?

Featured Replies

Maybe im just not having any luck or what not, but ive searched and ive found out how to bypass this controller on the pre 87s but ive read that its electronically controlled on the 87-up turbo's so how do i disable it on my 87??? ive got my Intercooler now and im thinking about upping the boost but i dont wanna hit the overboost controller

any help would be great :D:burnout:

There was a guy.. board name DinoSmash2000, that made little electronic bypass boxes for just that purpose...

Yo dino.. you here under a new name ?

Pre 87: Look between the air filter box and the strut top. There are two round plastic solenoids (one over the over), ea with one vac line plugging into them. The top one is the boost control sol......do not mess with that one. Bottom one is the boost cut sol. Just pull off the short vac line goining into it, and cap it or screw a bolt into it. Done. careful going over 10 psi if it isent intercooled :D

Now can someone Help me With 87 and up??????

alright tried pullin the vac. line off the bottom one and pluggin it...

still only gettin about 8psi :/

So does noone have a how-to on bypassing it on a 87+? im almost done with my boost controller but i need to know how to bypass the overboost.....HELP :D

Skip know, and I seent hat Dino 2k thinky too. It works, both of them. And, i need to know too...fer my rx.

Yes, I have tried Dino's fix. It is a zehner diode strapped across the signal wire to the ECU from the MAF.

I connected my dash mounted 0-scope to watch the signal and the injector pulse width.

I had watched these parameters before.

With the zehner in place both the signal in and the injector output were strange. I disconnected it fearing it may do permanant damage. Possibly the reverse impedance was not high enough?

The theory here is you want to leave the signal alone until it reaches the critical voltage, then clamp it at that level.

I have parts on order with Jameco to try a more sophisticated FCD.This one uses op-amps to form an active voltage clamp. Will report and may offer it as a solution once I am comfortable with it's use.

Feel free to do a search for voltage clamping circuits.

I'm pulling fer ya cause we are all in this together. (RG)

Skip, again and as always, you are DA MAN!!
