March 1, 200620 yr i now have a 1994 justy 2wd dl. i noticed it doesn't have a tach in the instrument panel.how hard would it be to install one? i'd really like to know the engine speed while driving the justy. oh btw-why doesn't she have power steering.is it because she's a base model justy?
March 1, 200620 yr I don't know anything about wrneching on Justys. When I had a tercel wagon, I wanted to add a tach. The sr5 models had them so I figured it could not be that hard. I was told that there was a hook up on the distributor. I don't know if any Justys got tachs. I also don't know if Justys had distributors, but I would guess they did. I hope this helps somehow...

March 1, 200620 yr get one of those big ones and mount it on the hood like a 70s muscle car! Just kidding.

March 1, 200620 yr Or get a big ricey 12000rpm one that blocks your view and blinds you when its abnormally huge shift light goes off at the justys awesome redline:banana: Yeah or not.....Pillar guages? On my Brat I put my tacho at the bottom of the pillar on the dash, easy to see and not in the way? Just throwing some ideas out....
March 1, 200620 yr My soob has a tach but when I installed one on my Civic I mounted it on the steering column, not in the way of anything and easy to see. But if I didn't already have one in my soob, I'd buy an 'A' pillar guage cluster and mount it in the cluster on the A pillar. That would look the cleanest and is in good view. ~~Lucas
March 1, 200620 yr Or get a big ricey 12000rpm one that blocks your view and blinds you when its abnormally huge shift light goes off at the justys Sorry to get off topic but this reminds me of a 'wokrmate' with a triton, even tho he had tacho in his dash he installed a 6 inch monster tacho on the dash. Pft he also went to an exhuast shop and asked for a loud custom setup, so you know wot kind of person he was. I believe you hook the seonsor wire to negitive side of coil or points breaker. You can also get the on power from the possitive side of coil.
March 1, 200620 yr Author cool, thanks every one for the suggestions.when i do get one installed,i'll make sure to post pics.
March 1, 200620 yr the one in my old hatch was also mounted on the steering column, it looked pretty overkill but it was still cool:D
March 1, 200620 yr Author man, your tach would block most of the instrument cluster in my justy.pep boys has one that's a small 2-3inch one for $40 bucks.maybe i'll get that.
March 1, 200620 yr yeah, that was the only problem:lol: it looked cool, but i could only see half of the speedometer and nothing else:lol:
March 3, 200620 yr I got a 2 1/2" tach for $20...just plain black plastic. Mounted top left corner of steering column, works great and doesn't block view. ~~Lucas
March 4, 200620 yr yeah, that was the only problem:lol: it looked cool, but i could only see half of the speedometer and nothing else:lol: For some reason I dont see an old sube needing the 2nd half of speedo as they dont go that fast.
March 4, 200620 yr Author For some reason I dont see an old sube needing the 2nd half of speedo as they dont go that fast. i know, could you imagine going 110 in a justy.....who knows it might be fun
March 4, 200620 yr get one of those big ones and mount it on the hood like a 70s muscle car! Just kidding. Hay i saw that but on an old ea81 wagon seriously:eek: Ill try and get some pics of how i mounted mine on my brumby
March 5, 200620 yr You'd be suprised what proportion of the spedo an old subie can use. Not like the legacys, which can pin it on a long straight away, but 0-100 gets used plenty.
