'92 loyale issues

Recommended Posts

I have a 92 loyale that just died on me one day. From what i could figure out and from the sound the engine was making when i turned it over i figured out it was timing belts. When i tore down my engine my timing belts looked to be alright although one was kind of loose, after I replaced those looked there I did a compression test on my engine. My 2 rear cylinders had low compression at around 80 lbs. I put a little regular oil in my cylinders and got my compression up to about 130 lbs. My engine started right up. I did a tune up, distributor cap, rotor, plugs and wires. My subaru was really running good at this point so i drove it around for awhile. then while i was on the gas it just died all at once, no sputtering or anything. I immedietly thought it was spark and probably in relation to the tune up kit i just put on. My car has spark tho and it is getting fuel out of my fuel filter. So now im trying to figure out why it wont run. If i had too low of compression in my 2 rear cylinders wouldnt my front cylinders still fire??? also is there a brain box that controls my fuel injection???and if there was something wrong with my brainbox would that leave me with spark, fuel, and a dead engine?? thankyou much

The Crank Angle Sensor is in the distributor. My Loyale will do that when water gets in the disty. If you don't dry it out well, it can take a couple

days to dry out by itself, so it would be well worth the effort to make sure there's no moisture in there.

If you still have your old disty and it works at all, stick it in there to see if it fires up.
