October 21, 200322 yr i found a guy with a '79 "fe" he sais it stands for fuel efficient. looks like any other 70's coupe. i think it's got a souped up engine, might not be anything that was marketed in the u.s.? he knows these cars well, so i don't think he's speaking from his butt.
October 21, 200322 yr don't know about the Fuel Efficent part, but those did come with a 9.3:1 compression EA71 and are quite rare.
October 21, 200322 yr Should have the 5 speeds as the tag said. There is one in the Peagasus yard in Athol Idaho.
October 21, 200322 yr Correct,Fuel Efficient....and boy they were...or are.I loved mine back in like 1983 or so.A real buzz bomb that surprised a LOT of people when I left a stop light. Higher comp. pistons as mentioned prev.

October 22, 200322 yr FE was only in the coupe. They also had a higher gear ratio 5 speed. They were not any different otherwise. Todd
