Trivia distributor question

Featured Replies

the distributor is off a 86/GL/1.8/carb/with the ignitor/..does any body know if the distributor will it work if the Rotation is changed...I would like to put this (minus the drive gear ) into another make of car

the 85 and 86 distributor are the ideal choice for swaps and succh. since there is only 2 wires off the coil. i ran one on a carbbed motor in a car that was turbo, with all the mpfi still there.

if yer talkin about it rotating backwards its all dependent on how the insides look, if anything spring loaded may want to "ratchet" going backwards.

other than that, i think it would work. magnets and electricity all work the same, its a matter of physical movement inside

so whereabouts are you in michigan? I live in the NE corner of Indiana, and one of my Subaru Alliance members TomRhere lives in hillsdale, and there are a couple of us in ohio (86 Subaru, The Alleyboy) and a couple of us right here in the corner of indiana(1ABAJA, Myoss Feece, Rgaff)

we had a swap meet last year, and we meet in ohio quite often since recently, we are looking for new people to participate in our subarus!

thanks guys for the gold mine of info..up in northern Mich.information can get a little tight

well - you can plug off the vacuum advance, and just not use it, and the centrifugal advance will not operate in reverse due to it's design. So it won't retard the timing..... but it won't advance it either - would be a pretty basic disty, and probably wouldn't run that great.
