Turbo Woes.

Recommended Posts

The Turbo unit on my EA-81T has decided to start making a loud horrible grindy type noise as it starts to come on that increases in intensity as the rpm's rise, bugger, l assume this means it's time to either rebuild or replace this thing and am wondering, just how hard is it to rebuild a Turbo unit? or better still, is this a do-able thing from home or does it involve some rediculously expensive machine, anybody know?

l figured it couldn't be that hard, l do as it happens have a EA-82 turbocharger on the shelf, this also needs a rebuild but is water cooled so with this in mind it's obviously the one to do up. The only problem this presents for me is where the water goes when it leaves the turbo, by that l mean, not the connection but rather, where the hell does this pipe go and what does it attach to and how, any pics or info would be of enormous help to me.

the upeer line goes to the thermostart housing and the lower line runs to a plugged hole on the bottomfrom of the passanger head.

your gonna need the ea82 downpipe as well, the flanges are different.

I can't remember if the cross pipe had to be changed tho.
