GeneralDisorder
That's the oil pressure idiot light switch - probably a bad switch if it went on while driving. As long as you trust your guage change the idiot light switch.... or just ignore it since you have a guage. GD
86subaru
ok, where is the switch located at , ? must be close to the light on the dash ,thanks
dxrflyboy
The switch is right by the oil filter. It screws into the housing.
Subarian
Or it's grounded out. Check for a break in the wire touching metal.
thealleyboy
Jim: Sometimes that'll flash on when your coolant is low (causing the motor to run hotter than usual). If your coolant and oil are at the right level, I wouldn't worry too much about the idiot light. Just watch your temp and oil pressure guages. Not sure if a bad switch will trigger an intermitant dummy light flash. I'm thinking the switch is a "go, no-go" device. Either it works, or it doesn't. The broken wire/bad ground is more likely. good luck, John
