Just a quick wiring question,

Does the ECU ground the pin for the main fan when the temperature reaches the set point or does it actualy feed power out of the ECU to ground?

AND..... Regardless of how the feed comes/goes from this pin, is it powering a solenoid?

Once again, any help here appreciated.

Cheers

ROTO, sure would be EZ'r to answer if we

knew which car's ECU you were askin' about -

don't you think?

Re gaurd less it is doubtful an ECU would power a

rad fan directly, currents of this magnitude are handled by relays.

4 in stance,

in the early model Legacy's,

the ECU drops ground potential

on the main fan's relay's coil via pin d17.

This in turn turns the fan to turn.

Hope this helps

In general the ECU (or any mystery box) powers nothing directly that has any real current draw. The ECU will provide a ground for a relay (sometimes relays are built into the mystery boxes) of some type.
