i am planning to upgrade the wiper motor in my 84 wagon. it drives me nuts having weak wipers! has anyone done this before? i'm gonna scour the J/Y for a more powerfull motor. see if i can figure out an acceptable swap.

when you find one let me know.The wipers on my 84 brat are painfully slow.

The problem is not the motor, but rather the electrical supply to it. The motors are actually fine, you just need to get cleaner power to them. You can try cleaning the grounds, but I've not had a lot of luck that way. I think it's best to run new power to the main fuse panel.

Might be a good thing to do, the electrical system is pretty sub-par.

I would also run a new ground to somewhere in the engine bay.

 

Doing that got rid of my herky-jerky intermittent wipers on my 88 GL.

sweet. now on my summer wagon "to do" project list. sounds like a good thing to go into the USRM!
