sidelined for stupid reason...

Featured Replies

I got to thinking that the only reason I was sidelined for a while was becuase I stuffed the engine into a snowdrift, and water could have been sucked into the engine through the seals.so I drained the oil and of course it was the nastiest mud I have ever seen emerge from a car engine. checked the plugs and they were ok.for some reason its running rich on the drivers side?! So Im gonna flush the oil out and see how it goes.

I asked my dad to help figure out for sure what was wrong with it.He said it shouldnt be a headgasket becuase not alot of four bangers idle that smooth if they have headgasket issues.(rock steady at 1000 rpm, gotta turn down idle on weber,or not)

there are other, better ways to diagnose a head gasket such as sniffing the coolant with an exhaust probe, watching for bubbles in the coolant reservoir, compression check, water in the oil, oil in the water, etc

maybe run some cheapo oil through it for several miles and quickly change it out.

thats what Im thinking, cheapo oil for a couple miles after flush to see if I have an issue, also im losing coolant at a fairly fast pace.If a head was cracked how easy would it be to fix it?

My headgaskets blew in such a way that water drained into the oil through the pushrod hollows, this meant it runs fine, though it is full of oil and water.

BTW, I think I would be surprised if someone didnt have cracked heads. The cracks are OEM.
