April 29, 200619 yr Just wondering. I recently picked one up for a small sum of money and it is in great shape. No shaft play. This is the stock turbo for a eclpise gst in case anyone doesnt know. I have a EA82T with Nissan injectors, and a WRX TMIC on the way. I think it is a little bigger than a TD04. I know whats involved in swapping it, which isnt a problem as I need a new exhaust anyway. I am planning 12lbs now out of the VF7, but think the TD05H might be a little better at say 10 lbs, or 8.
April 29, 200619 yr i'm not sure about these turbo's on subies but a couple things to keep in mind is that mitsubishi turbos spin in the opposite direction as other turbo's, not sure if that will be an issue but i thought i would bring that up. next up the 14b turbo is supposed to be safe up at 14psi and i've heard of guys running higher but eventually the turbo will give out, by the way while i'm thinking of it you may get some extra leg due to the turbo being geared for a larger engine.

Can you quote/link a source of comparison? I have swapped from Garrett to Mitsu and vice versa with no problems. I have swapped from IHI to mitsu as well. I currently have a TD04 in the wagon. Lag is about the same as stock, but I also have a higher compression ratio than stock. IMO, a TD05 would be driveable, but not nearly as well suited to these small motors as a VF10,VF11 or TDo4
April 29, 200619 yr I have no idea if the turbo is ok for your motor, but I seriously doubt that the turbines spinning in the oppsite direction will be an issue. exhaust goes out and air goes in on all motors right?

April 29, 200619 yr they're for a '83 Nissan 280ZX turbo IIRC... I'm going to be getting a set here in the next couple weeks, plus a AEM AFPR and a few other goodies for my RX:D
April 29, 200619 yr Turbo,s set up in one direction or another wont matter,but the issue here is the size of the turbo..a larger than required turbo may put out more boost at less effort,but with a trade off,especially on a small 1.8litre engine ......your power(boost) will more than likely come in at a higher rpm. so youll lose some bottom end..and the power band may be too sharp too soon, and making for a fairly unforgiving power surge for street use...(narrow power band over a shorter rpm range, but powerful) the fuel mapping curve would look like a banana to run this set up. what you want is something like a t3 / t4 hibrid turbo, small exhaust body but larger compresser,this will allow it to spool up fast and pump the higher amount you need. this is only a simple explanation and it gets real technical when picking the right turbo for your exact set up...cheers

They were the same price as the OEM injectors through my parts supplier at work. So I got them. I was thinking the tubo would be a little to much. It is almost 2x the size as the VF7. Ebay here I come. Thanks.
