I had new timing belts put on my car about 2 months ago. Yesterday I was changing my fuel filter and noticed that the green connectors (the ones you connect to set timing) and the small black and small green connectors (test mode?) were all still connected! It's been running as well as it was before so I just never noticed.

My question is, could any damage have occurred because of this? I must have driven at least a thousand miles with it like this.:-\

on 85-86 EA82 cars, they are under the dash beside the fuse pannel, and if left connected, it will trigger the ECU light, for some kind of starter issue. Otherwise, no harm.

is it the one by the firewall? I just pulled this one and noticed the revs increased, and now the car doesn't sputter when I step on it from idle! But the check engine light flashes??

on 87+, the green connectors are underhood at the firewall.

what does it do exactly?

on my GL-10, 1986 mind you, with the green connectors connected, and you turn the key on, it cycles the fuel pump. Other than that, I dont know what it does. My trouble codes still flash whether they are connected or not.

 

I am not sure what it does on 87 plus cars.

On my 92 Loyale, the green connectors make the check engine light go out. What else do they do?

I noticed that fuel pump cycling thing, didn't see the connection to the connection, and haven't checked if disconnecting made a difference. The check engine light flashes when disconnected, but the engine runs better!
