hello all,

I was wondering why my DL was acting up, I found out why today, The head Gasket is blown, Between the Cylinders, and The case is toast. Any suggestions?? Should I just slap a new HG in it and sell it as a runner? or should I find a shortblock?

I need to get a car running, Out of all my car's I don't have a single driver..

I'm borrowing a friends suburban, and that thing is just getting out of hand with the gas money..

Find another block - EA81's are just too easy to work on. For the price of a tank of gas for that suburban you can probably get it up again.

year dependant you might to be able to get a whole car for a tank of gas for the suburban

just do the head gasket they are relitively simple on an ea81

I take it that the block has been "washed away" in the area that the HG blew. You may be able to save it if that is the case.

Talk to a local engine shop. They may be able to heli-arc some new aluminum in and re-machine the deck surface. You may have to have the welding done at a welding shop though, as not all engine shops have the capability of welding.

I had to do that on a Toyota head that washed away between cylinders. Couldn't locate a replacement head, so I really had no choice.
