74 coupe @ junkyard

Featured Replies

Not a lot good on it but its there.

I apologize but I cannot go after parts for you this is a tip only.

Its a 74 FWD coupe. The dash is cracked, the engine is gone, the yellow paint isnt looking too original and it was pretty rusty. Can be found in Aurora at Action Auto recyclers (Colfax and Zeno). Its right next to a silver vanagon on the back end of a row so that should be easy to find.

Shawn, did you notice if it had a shifter console at all?

Thanks,I'll try to call on Monday to see if they'll help me out at all.

Do you know if they'll rip 'n ship??

If not, they need a junkyardGabe on their crew!!:-p

Before I pester you (sorry) can you draw on your memory and maybe give me a little more detail about the seats all around, and the rear panel behind the rear seat?

Anyone else in your area from the USMB who might have time for a better look and parts snagging?

Again, sorry, but you know how it is with these cars.I think there's less than a dozen on the roads. These cars get crushed instantly in rust zones.

Thanks for your help.

I dont recall any front seats in it, the rear might have had the bench seat cushion still there but I dont remember.

This is strictly a self service yard unfortunately and I doubt they will even answer the phone, the number is likely to be an answering machine telling you their hours and to bring your own tools.

OK,thanks.

So,can you think of anyone around you who might be going by there?

I always expect to pay for people's time.;)

there were definitely no front seats at all in it. I don't even remember the rear seat either...

no shifter console. steering wheel had huge cracks in it.

the only thing really worth grabbing would be one tail light (same as the ones I sent you Moosey), and maybe the chrome ringed front side marker lights.

Thanks Mick.

So,what's there left of it?:-\

Sounds like you called me in for dinner to see an empty plate,Shawn.:-p

I think some of the body parts were usable, but like Shawn said, it was a repaint, and you never know what might be hiding under there :)

the grill was okay, and the front turn signals in the grill I think were intact.... no fun emblems though :)

the interior door panels may have been good.

OK,so I'll ask again for kicks....:)

Anyone near there that has time for snagging the door panels if they are 100% intact?

Anyone who can go by and take pics for me would be duly honored and possibly compensated for their effort.

Please please please check the Historic Forum and print the "Wish List" thread.....please.Or at least print my post within that thread concerning my '73 GL1400 Coupe.

But on top of my list there may be some items in the yard car that I didn't think of so please, any pics would be greatly appreciated.

I kind of went through this scenario before. One really great west coast guy got some parts for me because he said there was an older Subaru,etc,etc.....long story short the parts were ok but nothing I really want for a restoration. No offense to that guy,but in the future I'd like to see what I'm getting.Especially since we can pretty much count on a '74 having been rusted, beaten on,weathered,etc..

As always,I'll toss some lunch money at least for an effort.

Thanks!

Aww come on guys,I know the golden rule here......throw you lunch/beer/gas money...:drunk:
