torxxx
Got a 90 Legacy Sedan at work with a automatic in it. Car hops all over the road when driving it. It has matching tires on it and the guy that gave it to us said that someone else put the car together wrong and he thought it was the rear diff. Kinda made me wonder. This one has a 4.11 rear diff in it. Sound right? I'm a old gen guy and dont know much about the ratios on legacys so I figured I'd hit you new gen guys up. What should the rear diff ratio (on the sticker) be for this car?
GLCraig
IIRC it should have a 3.
offroadsubaruguy
all the early legacies ive seen had 4.11 gears, except for the fwd.... but i could be wrong....
NorthWet
The diff tag on my 90 automatic LS sedan says 4.
Legacy777
All AWD 90-91 MT & AT normally aspirated Legacies have a 4.111 final drive ratio. All AWD 91-94 MT & AT turbo Legacies have a 3.900 final drive ratio. All AWD 92-94 MT normally aspirated Legacies have a 4.111 final drive rato. All AWD 92-94 AT normally aspirated Legacies have a 3.900 final drive ratio. All FWD 90-94 MT & AT Legacies have a 3.700 final drive ratio. The 91 turbo legacy was the only one to have a rear VLSD. torxxx
thanks legacy777. makes me wonder if they put a different tranny in that car then. I'll get the ###'s off the tranny and we can cross reference that. Unless its another rare case of mismarked tires (but I think that rarely happens, seen it once)
970subaru
dont buy it unless the guy is willing to cover the cost of a new trans and diff. even driving it with a mismatched diff is seriously putting the hurt on the whole car.
NorthWet
...I'll get the ###'s off the tranny and we can cross reference that... The number on my 2 '90 automatics are: TZ102ZA1AA
