This has foxed me -

When I plug my tire inflator into the cigar lighter socket in my 99 Legacy today, I do get a surprise ! It has always worked OK - when I turn the ignition key of course.

Today when I turn the key the inflator does not come on but - guess what - something(s) else does - the cooling fans come on at the front of the car !

HELP! Please help to save me time wire tracing - has it happened to you?

The fuse for the lighter is blown and the circuit is forwarded to the fan.

 

Replace the fuse.

Thanks you are right the cigar fuse has blown - but I don't understand what you mean by diversion to fan - the fan has a separate fuse.

for some odd reason it back feeds to the fans. Its a quirk of the circuit.
