Gen 1 Wagon in San Diego yard

Featured Replies

Yeah, it's an early one. I'm fairly certain its a 72-74, but I don't have my GenI identifying marks down good enough yet.

Actually, Bryan, how's the accelerator pedal look on that one? I need one. Just the pedal itself, not the arm.

i think its a 73, looks saveable, but probly not feasable. that is a shame tho:-\ someone should grab the tailgate assembly, that is a rare piece.....

I know. I was really sad and excited at the same time to see it there. If I had been there a day earlier I probably could have saved it for someone.

If someone is seriously interested, I could try and talk the guy into selling the car with a salvage title. It looks like it was sitting for a long time before it was dropped off in the yard (all flat tires, very dirty and a sign that reads "this is not an abandoned vehicle" on the tailgate....)

I'll check on that accelerator pedal.

Scratch that.......

Looked good at first, but it'd have to be free.

That's still a good base for someone more local.Custom interior, have some fun and make the seats actually comfortable....some paint, tune up that little powerhorse 1300 and save $$$$$$.

I've got parts to keep it going, but nothing to make it look much better.

Does anyone remember that yellow Gen1 stage 1 wagon on ebay a few months back for sale by the Petersen museum? That car put together with this car would have made a nice little resto. Wonder who bought the yellow one. They could use the rear bumper from this one for sure.

That's right,it was a later bumper makeshift fitted to the rear.

Well,I'm still wanting one.Might end up with Brian's from MT,but it's still seems a long way off.

There's less than half a dozen of these known to be in driving or semi-driving condition.Andrew-1,Charlie-1,Brian-2,the one from the "museum"-1 and now this one....not a runner.

Score this wagon if you have space to tuck it away.

If anyone goes there I'm seriously interested in the dangling front bumper if it's straight and not beaten.I don't care about the "stays" or brackets as some would call them.I just want the long bumper with nice ends.If it needs rechrome I'm cool with that.

I'm also wanting that front passenger side seat-backrest if it's not torn.

Items of interest:

door panels - only if worth cleaning

shifter boot - same as above

shifter rod and any linkage

small badge located right below the cigarette lighter-take the whole vent if needed. - only if decent, don't need it if poor quality

steering column plastic cover with "illumination lamp" that sits on topside

steering wheel (I do not need the ignition, combo switch,or column as a whole, just parts listed-thanks)

gear shift stay boot - located going into the tranny under car

axles

Let me know if you're willing to help.

Thanks

Hey Paul-

I should have time to go over there this Saturday. I'll print your list and take it with me. I remember that the door panels were really nice.

BT

Thanks Bryan. You're welcome to call me from there if that's you'd like to.

I went to the yard and salvaged what I could from the items requested.

Here are the results:

subilvr2212 -- The accelerator pedal was bent in half. Not sure how that happens, but I didn't think it was worth saving. Sorry, but I'll keep an eye out for one next time.

Paul (Moosens) -- I was able to get most of the things on your list that were in good condition. This includes:

passenger seat back

door panels -

shifter boot -

steering column plastic cover with "illumination lamp" that sits on topside

steering wheel (NOT THE COLUMN ITSELF, just the lamp cover and mechanicals)

Give me a call or pm me and we can discuss details for shipping and payment.

No worries Bryan. I'm gathering that accelerator pedals are items of questionable quality on these cars. Mine is removed entirely, I just have the pedal arm.

Thanks for keeping an eye out! :D
