August 10, 200619 yr I think that is designed backwards. Electrical power on: disengaged, no risk of damage. Electrical power off: 100% engaged, potential risk of damage if front & back don't spin at the same rate. Seems that if those two conditions were reversed, we'd have a more "fail-safe" design. Just sayin'. Or maybe I'm totally wrong! If so tell me. I'd prefer that as well
August 10, 200619 yr no no not you, actually somone else who tried several things and variations. Might've been me. I tried a few things, and different resistor values, until I was able to engage the override without throwing a failure light.

August 10, 200619 yr Author UPDATE:: i just got off the phone with subaru and they're saying that the problem lies in the Duty C and the tranfer case housing. Quoted price: $892.48 sound reasonable?

Its not uncommon for them to fall apart when the tranny is serviced like this. nipper

August 10, 200619 yr wow, how'd you manage that? figure out a way to throw a light when it's locked in 4x4? Anytime I forced 4x4 mode, I threw a light. Until I put in a dummy resistor load, making the TCM "think" that it was still connected to the solenoid.

(that green day part is a line from House Arrest)
