Best/cheapest fuel pump for SPFI???

just wanting to know what other FI fuel pumps will work on my loyale and hopefully a lot cheaper...I didn't want to spend $200-300 for example at Rock auto or Napa

there was post some time back about using a ford f-150 fuel pump, but something about using different clamps or buying smaller hose kit

upon search for specs, it seems a bit high pressured. I would personally erase this doubt with another regulator by the current one, leaving in the original unhindered. The result pressure is in the low 20's OEM. original oem doesn't even trigger the euturn regualtor at spfi -- I did it very rarely, and then it made a hissing short noise like a blow off valve.It is to say a pump at 20 or even a bit less would still run the spfi, even lower than written specs.:) looks like it will fit right in, another usmb regular would know details.

The stock SPFI pump is capable of about 50 psi, but the regulator at the throttle body will step it down to 21. Anything that can put out 40-50 psi will work fine.

 

I would probably go with the Ford unit if you intend to use a new one. Personally I just used the stock one from my donor and that worked great for me.

I must have bad pump-- it doesn't even return anything back to tank. after taking things apart- it doesn't even look or smell like it ever had to .On another note- I have never encountered a spfi loyale that did:confused:

Crimp the return line from the regulator while it's running with a guage attached in the supply line and you'll be able to watch the dead-head pressure of the pump. Mine was right at 55 psi.

unfortunately, in my case there are no doner cars available for many miles around..a good used one as a spare would be the way to go and lot cheaper also...
