August 25, 200619 yr I have a daughter, weighing about 70 lbs. Can she sit in the front seat of my 05 Legacy with the airbags? At times, the light says airbag off, other times it says airbag on. Anyone have an idea? Thanks in advance!!
August 25, 200619 yr She's on the bubble with the weight sensor. A buddy of mine's gf is right around 100 lbs, and the light does go on & off occasionally. I'm not really an airbag expert, but if you're at all skeptical, put her in the back.
August 25, 200619 yr Well whats her height and age? Age has nothing to do with it, height somewhat, but the big determining factor is weight, the airbags are tested to work within preset parameters of a 95th percentile man, 300 lbs and a 5th percentile female, 110 lbs anything higher, and you might check out 24 hour fitness after you see your doctor, anything less, you should sit in the back.

August 25, 200619 yr I believe distance from the airbag has a lot to do with it too. So if she's going to sit in the front, at least slide the seat back. I know very short people are often injured by the airbag from sitting too close to it. At least with the driver...I would think the same would apply for the passenger.
August 25, 200619 yr From NYS traffic saftey council http://www.nysgtsc.state.ny.us/seat-tip.htm http://www.nhtsa.dot.gov/people/injury/airbags/airbags03/page7.html DOT says 80 pounds nipper
